Coffee Date

Happy Friday! Happy Cinco de Mayo! And happy three months until wedding day to me! There is a lot to be happy about today apparently 🙂

This week was a great one for the most part.  I keep pinching myself because there is no way it could actually be Friday.  I haven’t had my any “I can’t wait for the weekend” thoughts, which makes this weekend even more exciting!

Today, lets pretend we are meeting up for coffee.  If we were meeting up for coffee, I would order either a soy milk latte (because for some reason I like it soooo much better than normal milk) or just some plain old drip.  I am a plain old kind of gal 🙂 So grab a cup of joe, because coffee is always a good idea, and enjoy all the things I would tell a friend if we were hanging out right now.  Or if I had a friend to get coffee with…

If we were having coffee, I would tell you that yesterday, I had one of my biggest embarrassing moments of the year.  Our dean sent out a school wide email notifying the staff of a required training so that we can administer the standardized test this month.  Yippee (in a voice dripping with sarcasm).  In the email, the date and the time were highlighted.  You know, like how the date and the time are linked in a text message.  So, I clicked on the link and hit “make a calendar event” which was the only option that would allow me to put it on my calendar.  I NEED things on my calendar or I will forget about it.  Guaranteed.  I set up the event in my calendar and hit “add”, and soon, my inbox was flooded with people either accepting my “invitation” or declining it and then explaining to me why they can’t make it.  Yeah… apparently I am now the organizer of this event on everyone’s calendar and my invitation was sent to EVERY staff member at our school.  If you are scratching your head and wondering why this is so embarrassing, than you may have never had the displeasure of being apart of an email where people hit “reply all” but it is literally the most annoying thing in the world and teachers complain about it all the time.  Now, I am not only a reply all-er (just roll with that wording please) but I also look like the ultimate know it all about something I actually know nothing about.  I then spent about 20 minutes deciding if I should just reply all again and explain my mistake.  At least I am helping other people remember the meeting, right? Right????!!

If we were having coffee, we would have to talk about the crazy storm we had yesterday, because I always have to talk about the weather!  If you saw my Instagram story, you know what I am talking about.  The northwest rarely gets thunder storms, but yesterday we had one that rivaled the ones I experienced while at college in the Midwest.  I was walking back from the grocery store when the rain started to pour and by the time I got home the thunder was literally shaking our house.  Derek and I stood on the back porch and watched the rain barrel down, and I could feel the electricity tingling on my skin.  We went inside after that ;)`It made me miss Minnesota, the crazy summer storms and late nights with my friends running around in the rain.

The storm brewing…

If we were having coffee, I would tell you about my first cup of coffee this morning.  Derek and I used our matching mugs and I thought about my sweet daddio.  A few months ago, Derek and I met my parents at my dad’s favorite coffee shop in Port Townsend.  While we were chatting and eating, Derek got up and bought one of their mugs to add to our mug collection.  None of us really noticed because we were too busy chatting.  When we left, my dad handed me another mug! Turns out, he had the same idea and somehow also managed to buy one without any of us noticing.  I have some sneaky men in my life 😉  Every time we use them, I think of my dad and it never fails to make me smile.  I am sure lucky to be his daughter!

If we were having coffee, I would ask that you send some kind thoughts to my sweet puppy.  He had surgery yesterday to replace a tendon in his knee and he is in a lot of pain.  It’s hard to see such an energetic and happy dog in this situation.  The vet said his surgery went well though, and after a couple of months of recovery (and physical therapy…) he will be back to his normal self! In the mean time, he is getting lots of extra love and attention from everyone, including the cat, who usually isn’t his biggest fan 😉

Curled up in bed asleep with ice on his knee. Poor baby.

If we were having coffee, I would tell you how much I appreciate you reading this silly blog of mine, and I would end our date with a hug, cause you know, I’m a hugger!

I may or may not be planning on celebrating tonight with a margarita and some chips and salsa… It just seems like the right thing to do.  Have a wonderful day friends!
