Hi guys! I have been a little absent in blog land due to some happenings in the real world. Like work, work, wedding stuff, puppy stuff, work, work and work! I apologize for the radio silence. It won’t happen again anytime soon.
We are smack dab in the middle of SBA testing which should stand for stupid boring assessment, but really stands for Smarter Balanced Assessment. That makes me think of Smart Balance, the fake butter. So, my kids are taking a stupid butter test and it’s eating my life. Well, it’s eating there life, but their problems are my problems, so we are all struggling together. I think that makes it more depressing actually.
It’s not that testing is THAT bad, but it’s the aftermath that is challenging. The test requires that they are quiet and focused for THREE hours a day all week, which is hard for them. And then they are loud and crazy for the rest of the day, which is hard for me.
Besides Smart Balance, this week has been very uneventful. Derek has his final choir concert (he is a middle school music teacher) on Wednesday and it was SO good. The kids were having a ball. It was a “pops” concert, so they sang popular songs from the 21st century. Derek arranged all the songs they sang and wrote and played the piano part. Choir is not a big part of Derek’s background and I am just so dang proud of him. Okay, I am done gushing. At least for a little bit.
I could not be more excited that it is Friday. My sister is playing some serious tennis today, and though I am SO bummed that I can’t be there, I can’t wait to hear how it goes. We are heading up to the island later today to probably have a little birthday celebration (for me!) and hang out with the fam. My brothers girlfriend Katrina just got home from college, so I get to see her too!!
I think I love birthdays way too much, but I just can’t help it. I love everyone’s birthdays. And I love my own. Even if I am another year older and nothing all that exciting happens. Does that make me self-centered? It’s not like I want a whole bunch of stuff or need all the attention! I just like birthdays, okay?
In case you have lost track of the five thousand countdowns that are ticking away in my head, here is an update:
- Eight hours until the weekend
- Four days until my birthday
- Seven days until puppy day!
- Thirty one days until the last day of school
- Seventy eight days until I am married!!!!!!!!
Other exciting things coming up include my sister’s and dad’s birthdays, a three day weekend and lots of end of the year festivities! It is a good time of the year, that’s for sure.
I’m going to go now, because I have nothing interesting to say. My brain is an empty hole and this whole post has been a collection of randomness. Instead of calling this little corner of the internet my blog, I should just call it my diary. Goodness gracious Jenny, get it together. For those of you who actually read this, you rock, and I promise I have loads more interesting posts planned for next week.
Over and out.
